Here are some ideas of where you can use eucalyptus essential oil. For colds and ‘flu, asthma, bronchitis - try inhalation or in a diffuser For muscle aches and pains, it’s great in a massage blend As an immunity booster - try in a massage blend, in the bath or diffuser To clear the head and improve concentration - try diffusing. Or blend in a small amount of carrier oil and rub on the temples or forehead Worms and ulcers - use it in a compress Compresses These are so simple and they can feel quite comforting. You can inhale the oils at the same time. They’re great to use for aches and pains, acute injuries, or just for cleansing your skin. They can even be used for women in labour. Simply soak a washcloth, muslin cloth, handkerchief or similar piece of cloth in a bowl of hot or cold water with around 5-10 drops of essential oil. Wring out the cloth and place over the affected area. No degree or qualification needed ! If you have a strong smelling essential oil, cut it back to maybe only 1 drop of that one. Use a few drops of Tea Tree essential oil and citronella for an insect repellant. Enjoy the air-purifying benefits and calming scent of tea tree oil by combining it with lavender and add to your vaporiser. Try 3 drops tea tree, 4 drops lavender. Try 2 drops tea tree, 2 drops sandalwood, 1 drop cypress to help relieve breathing with colds and flu type symptoms. Both of these have great skin smoothing properties on their own. Add some flower petals, light a candle. Take a glass of wine with you. Maybe take your Significant Other with you. An example of synergy is the marked improvement in the anti-inflammatory qualities of chamomile when mixed with lavender. Essential oils can be classified into three evaporation rates - top notes, middle notes and base notes. Top notes are the lightest and quickest to evaporate. Maybe just a few hours - eucalyptus, for example. Middle notes can last about a day - lavender, geranium, peppermint. Base notes are slowest to evaporate and can even last a few days. Examples would be patchouli and sandalwood. It is excellent for skin care, mental and emotional conditions and a great first aid oil. Lavender is also one of the safest oils to use with children. It is one of the few oils that can be applied directly to the skin. Lavender is pretty much top of my list. I have used lavender essential oil multiple times for burns from the oven or iron (I know - who irons ?) I use it on my temples for headaches, a drop on the pillow for sleeping - that worked well for my kids when they were little too. Lavender essential oil can be blended with a carrier oil for use on the body. It is wonderful in a diffuser. May especially be useful in a diffuser at night time to help with sleep.
